Topic Proposal

Solitary Confinement is a form of Torture.

Torture:
  • Causes extreme temporary or long-term discomfort
  • Results in serious psychological damage
  • Used as means of punishment or persuation
  • The infliction of excruciating suffering, anguish, agony, or torment

  1. Ok! This looks great. I think you should be able to write a good paper with this. If you find yourself with not enough content for a full paper then you can also add in other forms of inquisition used.

    Of course what you're going to have to deal with is the necessity of getting information from people like terrorists.

  2. Well, I was thinking more about the argument of using solitary confinement in prisons and correctional facilities.

  3. Oh, ok that works really well as well. In fact, that's great because it provides an exigence - that we're torturing a lot of people and we don't recognize it.

    But yeah, you'll still have to say how we'll punish criminals. In this case you might want to contrast the definitions of "torture" and "discipline."
